#Drz400 sm speed wobble full

I have since built a purpose road registered DRZ for the task.A bit of a wobble and we moan like hell? It's a tall bike with a lot if front fork travel, no matter what you do the front will go light upwards of 90. For the other more technical stuff I was using my other bike a KLX405r. That said my riding was mainly fire roads, dirt roads and shingle tracks, not much single track or bush bashing. I didn't have any issues with the 310 being too big on the dirt, maybe if I had gotten more technical with my riding I might have felt it over brake but certainly physically it was no issue. Certainly with 310 and the SM forks with the disk mount it was possible. The thing that you want to know is if you have to remove the caliper to get the wheel out. I cant comment of the 320mm front rotor as I never used one. The general consensus, at least what I gathered, was the S forks were a little more versatile. If I ever damage a fork Id probably do a swap but those forks would also need, at least, to be sprung for my weight. I did gold valves on the forks and shock.

I already had a full exhaust and intake cam as well as a cvk40 carb. I just did all the loctite fixes, a big bore, a kickstarter and an exhaust cam. But, I do want to see what SM wheels are like and I have way too much work and money into the bike to sell or trade it.

I do wish I had gone the SM route first but I had other ideas that aren't dead - like using it as a light adv bike. I would like to get some first hand info on how bad a wheel change really is with the 320mm and then decide The 270 is a good idea and Im glad to hear the KKE work well. As suggested buy and OEM SM speedo drive to make the speedo read true. I got the time to swap down to around the 15 min mark. I wound up using the same rear sprocket on both sets which meant it was easy to swap the wheels.

The spacers supplied are correct for the job too and they have a OEM speedo drive on the front wheel. I can recommend KKE wheels as this was the brand I used when swapping currently they are on my dirt E, technically they are specked better than the OEM wheels with stainless spokes and CNC'd hubs and use standard DRZ fitments - this makes it easy for things like rear sprockets and brake disks. I currently use one on my E and find the stopping power good. There is plenty of choice design in the 270mm market. Have you considered using a 270mm on both sets of wheels? This would make it easy to swap between without having to have the drama of removing the front brake for the swap. I believe that 320mm makes the front wheel hard to change (I only ever used a 310 on both sets that I had). There is another option for the 320mm caliper relocation bracket. Hi, I went the other way and used a 21/18 set on the SM to do the do thing for a while. So far the warp 9 or kke sets with tires mounted seem like a decent deal. I have a chance to get OEM SM wheels but theres no 310mm relocation bracket available that I know of. It sounds like the 320mm rotor makes it a pain to mount the wheel. Ill want to be able to swap back and forth between S and SM. Can anyone offer advice on the best way to do a SM wheelset for a DRZ400 S.
